What is the Global Markets Group at UVA?

The Global Markets Group (GMG) is a student-run global long/short equity fund at the University of Virginia. Members manage approximately $32,000 in assets invested in global equities across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia Pacific regions, and it is UVA's premier student-run finance club focused on international markets.

Do I need finance or business experience to join GMG?

No. No business or investing experience is required to apply. GMG looks for curious, driven students interested in financial markets and emerging economies who want to explore new ideas, work collaboratively, and put in the effort to grow their skills.

When is the Fall 2026 application due?

Applications are due Monday, August 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM. Interview invitations are sent out ahead of first-round interviews, which are held Friday, September 4, 2026.

Where are the GMG info sessions held?

Info sessions are held in Rouss & Robertson Hall 123 at the University of Virginia. The application and resume workshop is held in Rouss & Robertson Hall 223, where you can drop in any time between 12:00 and 3:00 PM.

What happens after you join GMG?

New members complete a rigorous probationary semester of training, supported by frequent educational primers, before pitching long and short ideas to the fund.
